Juliet Hanwell, Principal Osteopath
Juliet initially trained as a nurse obtaining her RGN qualification. She went on to work in Newfoundland and then returned to St Thomas’ hospital in London. Qualifying as an osteopath from the BSO in 1995 she has since worked in New Zealand and as the resident BBC osteopath in London.
She established Berkhamsted Osteopaths with Tim in 1997. Juliet enjoys treating patients with a wide range of problems from tension headaches, tennis elbow to lower back pain. Her patients range from teenagers to the elderly.
Tim Hanwell, Principal Osteopath
Tim qualified from the BSO in 1994 and has worked in numerous practices both in the UK and New Zealand. He currently shares his time between the Berkhamsted practice and his role as an osteopath at The London School of Economics Treatment Clinic.
Many of his patients in the London clinic report with symptoms associated with sitting for long periods. To provide additional help for these patients Tim set up The DSE Partnership in 2005 providing workstation assessments in the workplace.
Tim has recently trained as an IDD therapist to coincide with the arrival of the practices new IDD Therapy machine which enables him to treat patients suffering from painful disc related back problems.
Tim is also a partner in the Berkhamsted based office design company Officeworks which provides design and layout for healthy office spaces.
Charlotte Mead, Osteopath MSc MOst
Charlotte studied at the British School of Osteopathy in London for four years before completing her Master of Osteopathy degree in July 2011.
Since completing her degree, Charlotte has taken several further courses to keep up to date with the latest treatment techniques. She has a special interest in sports injuries and completed a Sports and exercise Medicine masters from Queen Mary’s University London in 2016.
Charlotte also has experience in treating all types of patients from athletes, expectant mothers, to babies and the elderly.
Clare Adams, Osteopath
Clare has a Masters degree in Osteopathy from the British School of Osteopathy and is registered with the General Osteopathic Council. Clare was inspired to take up a career in osteopathy after suffering with athletics related injuries in her teenage years, for which she found great relief from with osteopathic treatment.
Clare believes that one of the most rewarding aspects of her work is supporting patients to return to doing things they love by focusing the treatment of each patient to their individual needs and goals.
Susie Alderson, Nutritionist MSc DIP NT MAR
Susie is a qualified Nutritional therapist and is registered with the CNHC. Recent years have seen an increase in certain types of cancer, obesity, type II diabetes and coronary heart disease. Poor diet and nutritional status can be contributory factors to these conditions and Susie can advise on diet and lifestyle to support a patient’s health and the prevention of disease.
Susie has extensive experience in providing weight loss coaching, support for digestive problems, sports nutrition for young athletes and nutritional MOT’s. She has also been a qualified Reflexologist since 2003 and is a member of the Association of Reflexologists.
Lesley Ceronie, Body Laser Specialist
Lesley is a fully trained and insured therapist with over 20 years experience in the beauty industry. Lesley originally trained in South Africa and launched the Body Laser Clinic in 2010 which specialises in Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) laser hair removal for both men and women using the Ecolite system which is FDA approved and manufactured in the UK.
Lesley also offers facial thread vein removal, acne management, pigmentation reduction and skin rejuvenation. Additional beauty treatments such as eye brow waxing/shaping, semi-permanent eyelash extensions and therapeutic, relaxing massages are also available.
Myriam Ray, Accounts Manager
Myriam has been at Berkhamsted Osteopaths for many years. As well as booking appointments for patients she is the accounts manager and helps with any health insurance queries.
Sarah Stroud, Receptionist
Sarah is in charge of reception. As well as booking appointments and making sure the practice runs smoothly she is also very good at reuniting patients with their lost umbrellas and phones.
